Artist Statement

My work is shaped by my life experiences and the world surrounding me, infused with mystery, joy, and semi-abstraction. Living on the coast, with its wondrous wildlife, beaches, and gardens, is a huge source of inspiration for me. I am deeply drawn to the natural elements within nature and am intoxicated by colors.

My approach to creating art is a highly emotional process that is as spontaneous and intuitive as possible. To capture the moods of a particular moment, I use a variety of patterns, bold lines, layers of texture, and strong contrasts in light. There are no limits to the techniques I employ in my work, as every day I discover something new about myself and the art I bring into existence. Through my art, I am engaged in an intimate visual conversation with the viewer.

Monotype, which is a form of printmaking, has become one of my favorite ways of creating art. I find it very exciting and fascinating because it produces unexpected and painterly results that I can achieve. Each monotype is a unique language of its own, truly original to me and impossible to replicate.

I am currently experimenting with various printmaking, mark-making, and drawing techniques to explore the depths of my psyche. My aim is to uncover hidden relics and encourage self-discovery. This creative journey has also allowed me to connect with the spiritual and healing aspects of art. The work of Wassily Kandinsky has been a significant source of inspiration for me. His abstract artworks detached from the naturalistic world and conveyed a spiritual language that resonated with viewers.

As an artist, it is crucial for me to continue discovering and exploring various mediums. Being in the company of other artists who share my passion for learning is a source of inspiration for me. Fortunately, I live in an area that provides diverse art classes and workshops including one of my favorites, the BCC Heritage Arts Center in Southport.
